NJHS students:  There will be a rehearsal for the induction ceremony on Friday, May 15, 2009. Please report to your class and you will be called down to the cafeteria at 8:40 a.m. The rehearsal will take about 30 minutes. You will be responsible to make up the work you miss while you are at the rehearsal.

NJHS Community Service Opportunities:

 

Vandenberg Field Day – Help out at Vandenberg for the day on Friday, June 5. Busses will eave Pierce around 9:00 a.m. and return by 2:30. If you’d like to help out you must get a permission slip from Ms. Hofer and return it ASAP to room 14E.

 

Rouge River Rescue Day: Saturday, June 6. Help in the ongoing effort to clean up the Rouge River. See Ms. Hofer to get a map and permission slip, room 14E.

NJHS: The induction ceremony will take place in the Pierce cafeteria on Monday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m.  All NJHS members are required to report to the choir room by 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18. If you have any questions, see Ms. Hofer

Attention any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade boy interested in playing basketball next year.  This is your opportunity to improve your basketball skills.  This years Thurston Eagle Basketball Camp will be held June 15-19.  If you are interested in attending Thurston’s Basketball Camp please see Mr. Bates for a camp flyer.

The Pierce Track and Field team was crowned City Champions yesterday.  Both the boys and girls teams won against their arch rivals to the north.  The boys have guaranteed a winning season at 4-1 while the girls remain undefeated heading into their final meet before the Mega League Championship.  Athletes, do not forget that there is practice Thursday, Friday, and Monday, RAIN OR SHINE, before your meet with Belleville North next Wednesday.

Congratulations to both the boys and girls track and field teams.  On Monday the boys defeated the O.W. Best 73 to 55 to bring their record to 3-1 while the girls won by a score of 98-24 to remain undefeated at 4-0.  Today the teams will run at Hilbert Junior High for the City Championship.

Attention 8th graders!  There will be a meeting for all 8th grade parents TONIGHT at Thurston High School at 6:30-7:30 p.m.  Please have your parents attend if you plan to go to Thurston next year.

Congratulations to the members of the Pierce Middle School Concert Band on their outstanding performance at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association State Festival held at Novi High School last Friday.  The Pierce Concert Band earned a first division, superior rating, from all four of the adjudicators for a 1st division final rating.

 

The Pierce Middle School Concert Band has qualified for the State Festival for the past eighteen years earning a 1st division rating fifteen times.

 

The next performance for the band will be at the annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the William F. Weber Performing Arts Center.  The Concert is free and open to the public.
